The School’s Governance

On July 1, 2005, the school became an independent, not for profit, Catholic high school serving the needs of the broader community. Bishop García Diego High School, Inc., is a non-profit religious corporation that is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, and Section 23701 of the California Revenue and Taxation Code. A local Board of Trustees governs the school.

Mario Coronado

Mario Coronado

Mario Coronado is a 12 year resident of Santa Barbara and has been blessed with 22 years of marriage to SB native Theresa Bohnett. Theresa is a graduate of Bishop Diego along with 12 of her siblings. Mario is a product of Catholic education. For the last 30 years Mario has worked in the technology industry both as a computer programmer and a project/program manager. Mario believes very much in the importance and value of Catholic education in Santa Barbara. His children are both graduates of St. Raphael school and Bishop Diego High School and now attending Chapman University (Evie) and Texas Christian University, TCU (Anna). Mario was involved with the Development committee at St. Raphael and is currently on its school board. Mario has been involved in the golf committee at Bishop and is actively involved with the Bishop Cardinal Club. Mario just completed two 3 years terms on the St. Raphael Parish Council.

Robert Forouzandeh

Robert Forouzandeh EsqRobert Forouzandeh is a Litigation Partner at Reicker, Pfau, Pyle & McRoy, LLP, Santa Barbara’s Premier Business Law Firm.  Robert acts as outside general counsel for small and medium businesses and advises them on their day to day operations, executing their strategic vision and best practices to avoid litigation.  He also litigates corporate, business, real estate and employer-side employment disputes. 

Robert graduated from Bishop Garcia Diego High School in 1999 and was born and raised in Santa Barbara.  Robert played varsity football, soccer and baseball for Bishop and was named to the All Tri-Valley League, First Team in baseball his senior year.  Robert and his wife have two young children.  Robert is an avid golfer.

Tony has been a Certified Public Accountant here in Santa Barbara since 1991. During his 25+ years of experience he was worked for two local CPA firms and served as the Chief Financial Officer for a local real estate company. He currently has a solo practice specializing in small to medium size businesses and their owners.

In addition to his CPA practice Tony also serves on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations including but not limited to the Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce, United Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara, Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, Inc. and Bishop Diego High School.

Tom Johnson

Tom Johnson

Tom Johnson is, thankfully, a retired attorney. Tom and his wonderful wife Noel have 3 children. His son recently finished his freshman year at Pepperdine University; and he takes care of his two daughters, one of whom is a junior at Bishop Diego and another a 5th grader at Marymount. He enjoys driving them to and from school and their activities! Tom graduated from Grand Blanc High School in Michigan in 1979, and was born and raised in Michigan. Tom played tennis in high school (and won the state tournament, 2d-line doubles in 1978!) and in college. He graduated from Hillsdale College in 1984. He’s enjoyed playing tennis for over 38 years, and enjoyed karate for several recent years! Tom moved to California in 1989 to attend law school, survived the earthquake of ’89, and was on the law review.

Tom clerked for 3 federal judges and worked for a national law firm, before starting his own law practice.

Joe Salcedo

JoeSalcedo Joe graduated from Bishop High School in 1987 and is married to Teri (VanSon). They have three children, two who have graduated from Bishop, and the third is in the class of 2018.  Joe has volunteered and held leadership positions with many organizations in the community, including the Chamber of Commerce, Red Cross, United Cerebral Palsy, and SB YFL.

Joe is the Registered Investment Advisor, Owner of JS Strategic Advisors, which manages Investment Portfolios for individual, corporations, endowments and trusts.

 Joe's involvement at Bishop is his way to give back to the Great School that helped him grow academically and spiritually.

Dr. John Kelly

Dr John Kelly Dr. John P. J. Kelly was born and raised in London, England.  He holds Bachelors and Master degrees in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA where he was a Regents Fellow.  He was a University of California tenured professor, serving first in the Computer Science Department at UCLA and then in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UCSB.

 

He is the CEO of the Santa Barbara Technology Group, Inc., a technology research and intellectual property consulting firm that consults for government and industry.  The firm’s government clients include NASA, NATO, US FAA, US Dept. of Defense, and US Dept. of Energy.  Corporate clients include Apple, Alphabet (Google), Amazon, CISCO, Ford Motors, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony, Toyota and many others.

 

Dr. Kelly has led teams that designed and built hardware and software for a USAF fighter plane, a distributed real-time system for air traffic control in the US, a distributed geographical information system for the Department of Energy, and the first distributed ATM network for Citibank.  Over the last 40 years he has worked on well over 200 high technology projects.

 

He and his wife, Michelle, have been happily married for over 27 wonderful years.  They have three children – Jack and Clare were graduated from Bishop and Sean is a Bishop freshman.

Edward Leicht

Ed Leicht Ed Leicht is Chief Operating Officer at Implantech Associates, Inc., a private medical device company located in Ventura, CA.   He has been an active parishioner of Saint Raphael Church since moving to Goleta in 1988, sat on various Councils and Committees at the parish, and  until recently was an adult leader for Boy Scout Troop 105. 

Ed and his wife Jacqui have three children, all of whom have graduated from Saint Raphael School and progressed to Bishop Garcia Diego High School (class of 2010, 2011, 2016). Ed and his wife were active volunteers for many BGDHS sports teams and school events from 2006 until 2016, and Jacqui was the treasurer for the Parent Board from 2012 until 2016.   After their youngest daughter graduated from Bishop, Ed and Jacqui relocated to Oak View to be closer to Ed’s company.  In their spare time, Ed and Jacqui enjoy boating, golfing (well, only Ed), and wine tasting.

Rev. Msgr. Jon F. Majarucon

Monsignor Jon Majarucon Msgr. Jon is the Pastor of Saint Raphael Parish in Goleta. He has been a priest for 34 years. He served in the Archdiocese as a Catholic High School Teacher and Administrator/Coach//Vice-Principal/Principal for 13 years. He served on the Archdiocesan Personnel Board, Priest Council, and was Vicar Forane of Deanery III for 8 years. He holds a Pilot license with Multi and Instrument ratings and is a deep-sea fishing enthusiast.

Msgr. Dick Martini

martini Monsignor Dick Martini is Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Carpinteria.  Ordained in 1980 as a priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, he subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Education Administration and served 10 years in High School Ministry.

Monsignor Martini grew up in Pacific Palisades.  His family often vacationed in Santa Barbara.  Prior to his assignment in Carpinteria, Msgr. Martini was Chair of the Council of Priests and coordinated leadership training for priests and their staffs.  Animating parishes with the New Evangelization is one of his passions, so he coordinates a training called Parish Missionary Disciples.  He enjoys riding his bicycle and looks forward to completing the final stage of a cross-country trek.

Rhys Williams

Dr Rhys Williams Rhys Williams is a native of the UK and has lived in the US for over thirty years. Rhys completed his Bachelors degree in Mathematics at the University of Wales and earned two Masters degrees in Statistics and Mathematics from Tulane University and his Doctorate in Epidemiology from Boston University. He is currently an Executive Director of Global Health Economics at Amgen Inc (one of the world’s largest Biotechnology companies). He started his career at Aetna health plans and has worked for JNJ, BMS and Pfizer prior to joining Amgen in 2006.

Rhys is married to Jamie Ruffing and has two children Cory and Luke. Cory attended Bishop Garcia Diego High School and is currently a freshman at the University of Southern California. His son Luke is a sophomore at BGDHS and plays varsity soccer and tennis. Rhys and his family have lived in Montecito for over 10 years where he enjoys playing tennis and coaching AYSO soccer. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club and is President of the Polo Training Center Santa Barbara a 501©3 charitable organization.
