Dr. Destiny Hoerberg (Resource Teacher)
Dr. Destiny Hoerberg earned her Ph.D. in Education from UC Santa Barbara, with an emphasis in Special Education and Inclusive Teaching, and has a background in Psychology. Her professional experience includes working as a behavioral therapist, learning specialist, and educator in both private school and higher education settings. She is passionate about creating inclusive and supportive learning environments where students can build confidence, recognize their strengths, and grow as learners. She values being part of a faith-filled community that supports the whole student and brings together academic growth, character, compassion, and service to others.

Ian Mayta (Director of Cardinal Media)
Ian Mayta is an Artist, Filmmaker, and Educator serving as the new Director of Cardinal Media at Bishop Diego Garcia High School. With a background in filmmaking, photography, digital media, and technology, Ian is passionate about helping students develop their creativity, tell meaningful stories, and gain hands-on experience with today’s media tools and technologies. He is excited to build and grow Cardinal Media and be part of the Bishop Diego community. In his free time, Ian enjoys creating art and having art exhibitions, going on bike rides, spending time at the beach, and exploring new places with his wife, Ashley.

Dan Parker (Spanish Teacher)
Dan competed as a student-athlete at the University of Kentucky, earning a B.A. in English before spending a decade in the fitness industry. He later relocated to Santa Barbara, managing prominent music artists such as The Beach Boys and Rick Springfield. In 2000, he founded Vitascan, a mobile diagnostic clinic that expanded across ninety California markets.

After joining the Bishop Diego High School community last year as a substitute teacher, Dan now teaches Spanish 1, substitutes, and provides student tutoring. Outside the classroom, he can be found on local hiking trails, bike paths, or at live music venues.
Jazmin Puignau (Spanish Teacher)
Jazmin Puignau is a Spanish teacher with more than 25 years of experience teaching students of all ages. Originally from Uruguay, Spanish is her native language, and she loves sharing the language and culture with her students. She has taught Spanish as well as other languages and has a background in literature, history, religion, and international studies. Jazmin believes that learning a language is about more than grammar and vocabulary - it’s a way to connect with people, cultures, and new perspectives. She is excited to bring her experience, enthusiasm, and love of Spanish to the classroom!
