BDHS Class of ‘86. Looking Good At 40!
The weekend of September 4–6 reunited the Class of 1986 in some familiar places and led classmates to explore new locations as they celebrated 40 years of Cardinal love and pride. Throughout the weekend, the Class of '86 shared amazing conversations, laughter, and smiles — memories that made it clear the Cardinal bond never fades.
Friday: Taco Night
The reunion kicked off at Vicki Osterling's home for taco night, with 35 Cardinals gathering to reconnect.
Saturday: Luncheon, Wineries, and Dinner
A Saturday luncheon in the Funk Zone at Shalhoob's included a surprise visit from the BDHS Cardinal Cheerleaders, who welcomed the class with the spirited chant, "We've Got Spirit, Yes We Do, We've Got Spirit, How About You!" In a moment that brought the whole class together, the '86 cheerleaders jumped right in, cheering back, "Our Spirit Is Sky High!" — proving that once a Cardinal, always a Cardinal.
In true Cardinal fashion, the cheerleaders led the alumni to the bus, waving their red and white poms-poms as classmates headed off to Vega Winery for appetizers and wine tastings. Kevin Law later had the bus make a detour to Côtière Winery in Los Alamos for another 40th reunion toast. Of course, no reunion would be complete without dinner at Harry's Plaza Café to close out the day.
Sunday: "Sunday School" at BDHS
Class was back in session — sort of. "Sunday School" at BDHS wrapped up the weekend with pastries, coffee, and a guided tour led by classmate Tina Franco that brought the old campus roaring back to life. Around every corner, Cardinal history waited to be rediscovered. Classmate Keira Middleton beamed at the sight of her own plaque hanging proudly in the new BDHS Cardinal Athletic Hall of Fame, while classmate Amy Shull paused in the Stovesand Center to take in her brother's jersey. In the Red Zone room, photos, yearbooks, and archival treasures turned the clock back decades, one memory at a time.
The rest of campus had its own stories to tell. The Cardinal Beach Volleyball Courts and sprawling, sun-soaked grounds drew their share of BIG RED admiration, as did the tranquil Peace Garden. And of course, no visit was complete without a stop at the Brick House — still standing, still bleeding champion red, still holding onto the best of times.
