BISHOP / HIGH
September 2010 E-News

From the desk of Dr. Paul Harrington, Head of School

The new school year opens with a deep sense of gratitude.  We welcome 85 freshman students and 11 transfer students (from as far away as China, Italy, Brazil, Oregon, and Vietnam) as well as our returning students for a beginning enrollment of 295.  This is phenomenal given that we closed the 2009-10 school year in June with 275 students.  Certainly we are delighted with the enrollment; however, some students will experience a larger class size than predicted or desired.  I will continue to work with school constituents to strategize how best to alleviate this situation in subsequent years.

In April, we welcomed Dr. Joe Reiken as our new Assistant Head of School.  He has settled into his new office and his door is open!  Father Tom moved down the hallway as he transitioned to our Advancement Office to spearhead our Gift Planning program.  We also welcome a familiar face, Mrs. Ashley Parker Snider, mother of Spencer and Greer Shull, who began this summer as our new Director of Admission and Public Relations.  Ashley holds a degree in English from Bates College (Maine) and has extensive experience in sales and marketing and public affairs.  She has served as an active board member at Direct Relief  (read more)
