Campus Life » Video Tour
"An Evening of the Arts was a great success this year! There was a huge turnout in terms of students, parents, and teachers who came to enjoy the visual and performing arts. Besides all the amazing art from the painting, ceramics, advanced placement art, digital art, and general art classes, BDTV shared some quality clips, band had a great performance, and drama did a wonderful teaser for the Spring Musical, "Bye, Bye Birdie, that left the viewers begging for more. It was a very special moment when the art classes presented a blow up grid portrait of our beloved former art teacher who is now retired, Sandy Tollefson, known widely as Ms. T. The portrait is composed of 80 squares, each 4" square drawn lovingly by an art student. It was truly a night to remember! "

On February 13, 2008 Bishop Diego’s new weightroom was rededicated in memory of Roberto Nájera and Dane Schmidt. This BDTV report by junior Martin Watts contains clips of the rededication. Also there are the speeches of Coach Tom Crawford, Athletic Director Dan Peeters and, of course, Principal Father Tom. Also there are some pictures and clips of the students demonsrating the new equipment.
As a celebration of el Día de los Muertos, a group of Aztec dancers, including Bishop’s own student, Laina Godinez, performed for the student body. The traditional dances honor mother earth, expressing the respect the Aztecs held for nature. Like the songs sung at mass, the dances are acts of prayer. The two dances showcased in the clip, “Fuego”, fire, and “Ollin”, movement, are examples of the dances shown. A worldwide organization, people join and participate in the dances to keep their traditional culture alive. Laina began dancing when she was four years old and has continued ever since. Summer West and Natalie Van Wingerden prepared this short for their B.D.T.V. class.
Last year, attempting to build the history of Bishop, a grandparent luncheon was held off campus for the first time. About thirty grandparents attended and truly loved the experience. Based on the previous success the administration decided to make the event a tradition. This year however, it was held in the gym and included the faculty and students. The affair was developed to strengthen the bond of the generations within the Bishop community. Fr. Tom and Paul Gherini spoke to the assembly, honoring the grandparents and explaining the renovations to the campus. The students present answered the question, what do my grandparents mean to me, on a note card. The card was then given to the grandparents at the end of the event. A total of eighty-nine guests attended. After a delicious meal and time to chat, the grandparents were lead on a tour of the school. Anthony Tornello photographed the lunch.
Mr. Dewey's French 2 class entertained our BDTV audience with their own music video of a 2006 French hit Allo Papy! by the artist Bébé Lilly. The singer in the original song is a computer-animated character, so it was a relief to bring some real life to the song! The leaders of this project were Jessica Langhorne and Hayden Slaught, and all the French students are included in the video. Digital Art Students Noelle Brown, Jordan Ekola and Des Vanderfin worked on filming and editing.
