Ahletic Training Room Rules for Coaches
1. No athlete should be in the training room unless they are with an adult.
2. If an athlete goes to the Doctor for an injury, the ATC MUST have a note from that doctor clearing the athlete to play again, whether it be in practice or a game.
3. There isn't any medication — Advil, Tylenol, Tums, etc. — in the training room for athletes or coaches. The ATC is not legally permitted to give medication to minors. Please discourage athletes from taking any non-prescribed medication during participation.
4. If an athlete has an injury, please send them to see the ATC immediately. If the ATC is not there, make sure they come in the next day before practice. Please do not treat an injury you are not trained for (i.e. dislocated joints). When in doubt use RICE.
5. If an athlete has a concussion, he/she will not be allowed to practice or compete until examined and cleared by the team physician or ATC. The chance of re-injury and serious brain injury is too great. Take concussions seriously and do not let any player who you suspect has sustained a head injury resume play until you are cleared by a Doctor and confirmed by the ATC!
6. Any athlete with a history of asthma must have an inhaler with them while they are practicing or during a game.
7. Water coolers and water bottles are the responsibility of the coach to return to the training room at the end of practice or a game.
