Golden Graduation – Class of 1958
June 7, 2008
| On Saturday, June 7, 2008 a crowd of four hundred parents and guests gathered at the historic Santa Barbara Court House sunken gardens to watch Bishop Garcia Diego High School’s Class of 2008 graduate. To the left of the stage the Class of 1958 was seated. To the right of the stage sat the Class of 2008. The ceremony provided a fifty year flash back for the class of ’58 and a look into the future for the class of ‘08.

Seventeen classmates from Santa Barbara Catholic High, Bishop High’s predecessor school, attended the graduation ceremony and were recognized by Mrs. Patty (Sebastian) Charest ‘77, President of the Alumni Association. Patty spoke of the history between both schools and the commitment the alumni continue to bring to Bishop fifty years later. Her final words to both classes; “Once a Cardinal, Always a Cardinal”!
Following the ceremony, the Class of 1958 celebrated their fifty years of friendship at Bishop with a special luncheon hosted by the Alumni Association. The classmates were greeted by “alumni” from both schools. |
As they were escorted toward the courtyard these classmates were amazed by the beautifully remodeled campus. The luncheon was held in the school’s library catered by Cliff’s and Co. Following lunch, Fr. Tom Elewaut, principal, presented the “golden diplomas” to each classmate and then guided the classmates on an exclusive tour of the campus. |

The Class of 1958 is a very close knit class as they have stayed in touch over the years and have built a bond that is unique. On behalf of Bishop Garcia Diego High School and the Alumni Association, we congratulate the Class of 1958 on fifty years of Santa Barbara Catholic High dedication and pride! |
