Students are admitted to Bishop García Diego High School on the basis of their academic record, performance on the placement exam for 9th grade, recommendations from previous schools, and the student's willingness to abide by the school's philosophy, rules, regulations, and standards.

Admissions Criteria

Bishop García Diego High School, Inc. mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students of all race, color, and national and/or ethnic origin, to all the rights and privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at this school. Bishop García Diego High School, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of race, color and national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, scholarship and loan programs and athletic and other school administrated programs.

Admission to Bishop García Diego High School is comprehensive; however, the Bishop García Diego High School Admissions Committee primarily considers the following criteria when making admissions decisions:

Freshman Application:

7th and 8th grade grades (including conduct)
Standardized testing scores from junior high and the High School Placement Test
Student-reported activities and special talents
In addition, the Admissions Committee gives priority to siblings, children of alumni, and Catholic applicants.

Transfer Application:

High school grades and discipline/attendance history
Standardized test scores from junior high and high school
Administrator or Academic Advisor recommendations

Application Materials

Parents of students interested in attending Bishop García Diego High School can pick up application packets during Parent Information Nights, by calling the Admission Office at 805-967-1266 ext. 118, or visiting the campus.

The 9th grade application process requires the following:

Completion of an Application for Admission.
Copies of 7th and 8th grade report cards to date.
Students applying for the 9th grade must take a Placement Exam. Contact the admissions office for dates and times.
A non-refundable application fee of $50.00, made payable to Bishop García Diego High School.

For parents of students interested in attending 10th or 11th grade at Bishop García Diego High School, the application process requires the following:

Completion of an Application for Admission
A non-refundable application fee of $50.00, made payable to Bishop García Diego High School.
Parents are responsible for requesting that the current school of attendance send a copy of unofficial transcripts to the Admissions Office at Bishop García Diego High School and requesting a letter of recommendation from the applicant's academic advisor or school administrator.
Provide the name and phone number of the students' academic counselor(s) at the time of application.

Visit Bishop Program

The Visit Bishop program is a half day, one-on-one shadow program. This is an informative visit where our guests meet our teachers, visit with our students, observe classes, and see the campus.

The Visit Bishop program is generally offered Tuesday through Thursday beginning at 7:45 am and ending at 12:30 pm (depending upon school schedule). Prospective students are paired with one of our Bishop Ambassadors who will welcome guests to campus, share with the student their Bishop Diego experience, and host them through their visit. The parent of a potential student applicant must meet with the Director of Admissions in order to schedule a student guest visit to Bishop García Diego High School.
